For some personal reasons, including illness and the economy, my bank account ran very low for a period of time. I had to spend the few bucks I had available on food, medications and supplements, and I barely had enough to live.
This is when Bank of America began to mess with my life. They began to suck the last penny I had available. It all began with an error, but it snowballed to the point where they charged me fees that came out of nowhere and left me without a penny and owing them hundreds.
I explained my situation to about 20 associates, non of whom could do anything to help. I was barely working due to my health condition, and earning very little. It was until I showed the associates this page: http://ahead.bankofamerica.com/uncategorized/bank-of-america-limits-overdraft-fees-offers-customers-opt-out/ that they finally accepted to refund some of the fees. None of them was even aware of their policies, or maybe they were and were just not applying them? Obviously it was just publicity, since they were not doing what they were broadcasting in the media.
This was not the end of it. I was able to get back all my money with the help of http://www.helpwithmybank.gov/ and immediately opted out of overdraft protection.
You'd think that was the end of it? No. Immediately after, I was hit with a new "overdraft-like" fee. Even though Bank of America spelled out their policy regarding opting out of overdraft protection--explaining that a debit card transaction would be denied if there weren't enough funds, they now had a long, convoluted new explanation as to why they would not deny the transaction and would still charge a fee. I have pasted their whole email below.
I have just had enough with these thugs, and I know many more people in similar hardships are having it as well. These bastards left me without food for days when sick, while I begged the associates to please give me a temporary break while the situation got resolved. None of them was even aware of their customer assistance program, which I was entitled to and was able to receive only after I rubbed the URL on their faces.
"The Customer Assistance Program offers customers who lost their jobs or are in hardship immediate fee relief, waiving the monthly account maintenance fee for three months and refunding fees for non-sufficient funds or overdrafts."

I shed so many tears over this horrible experience; these people are the worst scum of the earth. I am now showing their new set of excuses as to why they now charge overdraft fees even after the customer has opted out of overdraft protection.
Thank you for reading.
